Motorcycle and Pedestrian safety

01 Jul Motorcycle and Pedestrian safety

I am sad to note that a tragic accident has taken the lives of a pedestrian and a motorcycle rider in Chesterfield County. Reports are that the motorcycle was headed westbound on Route 360/Hull Street Road, when it hit a pedestrian crossing the road. This terrible incident highlights the need for all of us to be very careful when operating vehicles on the roads. In addition, pedestrians must always be sensitive do the fact that they are at the mercy of people operating vehicles. Initial reports indicate that speed and alcohol were likely contributors to this event. With virtually all drivers use cell phones while driving (although not on motorcycles), we must be very aware of the Likelihood of distracted drivers. Please be extra careful as we approached the 4th of July weekend so that this tragedy is not get repeated.
